Hutai No.8 grape is a new grape variety, widely planted for its large fruit, good taste and good storage tolerance. To grow Hutai No.8 grape well, you need to do a good job in all management tasks, so how should Hutai No.8 grape be managed during the flowering stage?

1. Pinching

At the beginning of flowering, pinch the main shoot to stop the extended growth of the new shoot, so that all nutrients are supplied to the flower clusters and the fruit-setting rate is improved. The pinching position is generally where the leaves on the new shoot are 1/3 the size of normal leaves, keeping 4~6 functional leaves above the fruiting position.

2. Water requirements

Control water for 10~15 days from the beginning to the end of the flowering stage. Irrigation during the flowering stage will cause branches and leaves to grow too quickly, with vigorous vegetative growth consuming large amounts of nutrients, which is unfavorable for fruit setting.

3. Pest and disease control

During the flowering stage, spray Xinxi 800~1000 times dilution or Shuangyin 600 times dilution + 10% Baokang wettable powder 1500 times dilution or 30% Baotuosheng 1500 times dilution + Luliang aqueous emulsion 2000 times dilution to control rachis brown blight, black pox, downy mildew, green plant bug and scarab beetle.

Overall, Hutai No.8 grape is still quite easy to manage during the flowering stage. As long as you water less, pinch at the right time, and spray pesticides in advance to control pests and diseases, it will be fine.
