In recent years, bagging fruit has become popular. Many fruits, such as loquat, mango, apple, and grape, have one after another been put into paper bags. So can grapes be left unbagged? Let's take a look.

1. Can grapes be left unbagged?

Grapes can be left unbagged.

Unbagged grapes receive more light, so their sugar content is higher and their flavor is a bit better. Bagging grapes, on the other hand, can isolate them from the harm of viruses, birds, and insects, and also allows fewer pesticides to be sprayed. Bagging or not bagging grapes each has its advantages; just choose according to the actual situation.

2. What is the specific process for bagging grapes?

1. Bagging time

Generally, after grape thinning, bagging as early as possible is better, because bagging early can reduce the use of pesticides and reduce pollution.

However, bagging should also be done after the grapes have colored, because grapes need sufficient light to color evenly and look good. If bagged too early, it will instead affect the quality of the grapes.

Different grape varieties also have different bagging times, so the bagging time needs to be chosen according to the actual situation.

2. Preparation before bagging

Before bagging, the flower clusters need to be trimmed, and the fruit and flowers thinned; for new shoots, generally keeping one fruit cluster is enough.

Choose a paper bag type suited to the local climate; paper bags with good air permeability and appropriate transparency are best.

Before bagging, some fungicides, such as Amimiao Shou and carbendazim, also need to be sprayed on the grape plants.

3. Bagging method

When bagging, first use your hands to open the paper bag so that the whole bag puffs up, then put the entire fruit cluster into the bag from bottom to top, then gather the bag opening onto the cluster stalk and tie it tightly with the sealing wire on one side.

It should be noted that because the bagging process involves the use of pesticides, you must wash your hands promptly after finishing bagging.
