Dichondra repens, also known as small moneywort, lotus-pouch grass, meat wonton grass, golden key, copper coin grass, small dichondra, and jaundice grass, is a resource-rich Miao ethnic folk medicinal herb. It is currently being introduced and cultivated artificially, and below we introduce its seed planting method.

Seed Planting Method for Dichondra repens

1. Seed selection and germination

Select plump seeds that were recently harvested and properly stored, soak them in 50mg/kg GA for 4 hours to achieve disinfection, awaken the embryo, and promote seed revival.

2. Land preparation

Rototill the soil to loosen it, rake it level, and work it fine so that the soil particle diameter is below 2cm. Adjust the soil pH to 5.5-7.0. Disinfect the soil with formalin:water = 1:40, at a rate of 10-15L per square meter of bed surface. Before disinfection, the soil needs to be dry. Then dig furrows and make beds, and water thoroughly.

3. Sowing

Sow the seeds in the field by drilling or broadcasting, then rake the soil so the seeds go -2 cm into the soil, and cover the soil with straw curtains or non-woven fabric, which can increase soil temperature and maintain humidity (you can also use a shade net to prevent excessive water evaporation.).

4. Field management

After Dichondra repens seedlings emerge, do a good job of watering and fertilizing. If using highly soluble fertilizer, it is best to dissolve it first and then spray it with a sprayer; if using fertilizer that cannot dissolve immediately, then after fertilizing, water heavily. When it rains and when watering, also appropriately apply additional nitrogen fertilizer to ensure its growth. In addition, proper loosening of the soil and weeding can also help its growth.

Dichondra repens has strong disease resistance and usually only suffers from southern blight and a small amount of Phyllosticta leaf spot, so during the high temperatures of July-August, it is enough to do a good job of prevention and control.
