When is the blooming season of baby's breath?
The blooming season of baby's breath is from June to August, but different levels of cultivation skill can also cause differences in the blooming season. The petals of baby's breath are white or light red. It is a commonly used material for flower arrangements and has certain medicinal value.
How should baby's breath be cared for?
Potted cultivation:
1. The soil for growing baby's breath is best a weakly alkaline sandy loam. We can use leaf mold, sandy soil, nutrient soil, and so on to prepare a loose, breathable, and nutrient-rich potting soil.
2. Baby's breath needs to be placed in a location with ample light and good ventilation for care so that it can grow better and bloom more. The temperature should be 15-25 degrees. In hot summer, shade it and use a spray bottle to spray water mist around the potted plant to increase humidity; in winter, do a good job of cold protection and keeping it warm.
3. Baby's breath is a plant that has a high demand for water but is especially afraid of waterlogging. Therefore, when cultivating baby's breath, while ensuring sufficient water, be sure to avoid waterlogging. During the growth period, give plenty of water, while during the blooming season you can reduce the water given, as long as the potting soil is kept moist.
4. In the early stage of growth, mainly use nitrogen fertilizer, while in the later stage of growth, mainly use phosphorus fertilizer and potassium fertilizer. The fertilizer application cycle is once every two weeks.
Vase placement:
For baby's breath bouquets bought in flower shops, it is recommended to directly trim and arrange them and then place them dry in a vase. There is no need to put water in the vase. Because the stems and flowers of baby's breath have low water content, it easily forms dried flowers, so placing it dry directly is fine, and in this way it can be kept for more than a year.
In addition, baby's breath in a vase is best placed in a cool and dry place, because humidity easily makes it moldy, while direct sunlight easily causes fading and flower drop.
