How to Grow Kidney Beans? Kidney Bean Planting Methods and Key Management Points
In many places, kidney beans are also called green beans, and they are a popular vegetable among the podded vegetables, with every household in rural areas planting a small patch. So how do you grow kidney beans?
Choosing a pot
You can prepare a slightly larger flower pot or a foam box, etc., with a depth preferably reaching 25 cm or more.
Covering with soil
Try to choose slightly finer soil.
Sowing
Use your finger to poke a few small holes in the soil, about 5 cm deep is enough, leaving a certain spacing between each small hole, not too dense. Put 1 to 3 kidney bean seeds in each small hole, then fill the small holes with soil. At this time, water thoroughly in one go, but do not let waterlogging or standing water occur. When watering, be careful not to wash the seeds out.
Sprouting
In about 7 days or so, the kidney bean seeds will sprout; at this time, if the environment is too dry, you can cover the box with a layer of plastic film. This keeps the humidity of the environment during the germination period.
Watering
Before kidney beans bloom, water as little as possible, observe the soil, and water only when the soil becomes dry. When flowering begins, water more, normally once every 2 to 3 days. Pay attention to the amount of water, and do not let standing water occur. If the temperature is high, you can appropriately increase the watering frequency, but do not increase the amount of water.
Fertilizing
Before the growing period of kidney beans, apply fertilizer 2-3 times. Mainly nitrogen fertilizer. When flowering and setting beans, apply organic fertilizer 1 to 2 times a week.
Harvesting
About 10 days after the kidney bean flowers fade, when the kidney beans are about 10 cm long, they can be picked and eaten.
