Now more and more people advocate nature and environmental protection, and there are more and more organic foods. Not only are there organic vegetables and organic fruits, but now tea also has organic versions, so what is the difference between organic tea and non-organic tea?

1. What is organic tea?

Organic tea refers to tea produced and processed according to organic agriculture standards. During production, no artificially synthesized chemical fertilizers, plant growth regulators, pesticides, etc. are added, and the finished product must also meet the standards of the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (IFOAM) and have a certificate issued by an organic (natural) food certification organization.

In plain terms, organic tea refers to a kind of pure, natural, pollution-free tea, while non-organic tea generally uses artificially synthesized pesticides, chemical fertilizers, etc. during production.

At present, more than 20 tea production units in China have obtained organic tea certification.

2. What is the difference between organic tea and non-organic tea?

1. Different production and processing: In the production and processing of organic tea, no artificially synthesized pesticides, chemical fertilizers, or plant agents are added, while non-organic tea is the opposite;

2. Different production standards: Organic tea needs to meet the standards of the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (IFOAM), while non-organic tea does not have this requirement;

3. Different prices: The production cost of organic tea is higher than that of non-organic tea, so its selling price is also higher.

3. What are the cultivation techniques for organic tea?

1. Environmental selection: A plantation far from cities and industrial areas should be chosen. Both the air and water sources must meet the national Class I standard, and the content of heavy metals in the soil must also be lower than the prescribed standard;

2. Soil selection: Soil that is deep and fertile, has good permeability, has an organic matter content >1.5%, and has a pH value of 4.5 to 6.5 should be chosen.

3. Fertilization: Choose organic fertilizers that are not contaminated by heavy metals, pesticides, or other harmful chemical substances and that have undergone harmless treatment, certain natural minerals (such as mineral saltpeter, etc.), natural humates (such as peat, etc.), organic liquid fertilizers produced by pure biological technology, bacterial fertilizers, special fertilizers for organic tea, etc.

Because organic tea has stricter production standards, it is safer and more environmentally friendly than non-organic tea, but ordinary tea produced according to regulations is also very safe.
