Shiqian moss tea is a local variety formed through long-term cultivation and selection by tea farmers of various ethnic groups in Shiqian County, Guizhou Province, China, and its mother trees belong to the ancient tea tree series; it is one of the few fine tea tree varieties in China, and its stress resistance, adaptability, yield, and quality are several times better than those of varieties from other regions. It also has a lasting chestnut aroma, a mellow taste, a green and lustrous color, a yellow-green and bright liquor color, and a fresh and uniform leaf base. Tested by the Ministry of Agriculture, the tea's hygienic indicators for pathogenic bacteria, heavy metals, and pesticide residues are all lower than the standards of the European Union and Japan, and it is rich in aromatic substances and contains beneficial substances such as zinc, selenium, and potassium. This tea originated in Shiqian and has been introduced to eastern Guizhou, northern Guizhou, southeastern Guizhou, and other places. It is a strategic variety for the characteristic tea industry of Shiqian County, Tongren Prefecture, Guizhou Province, and was once praised as “not even gold can exchange for it” and “a brand among brands”.
