The plane tree is a relatively tall tree, and its fallen leaves in autumn are very beautiful. It is grown in many areas, so what are the plane tree cultivation techniques? What should be noted? Let's take a look!

I. Basic Introduction to the Plane Tree

The scientific name of the plane tree is Platanus orientalis, also called qiehan tree, jingtu tree, French plane tree, oriental plane, etc. It is a large deciduous tree, and its height can reach up to 30 m.

Because the plane tree likes light, prefers a humid and warm climate, and is relatively cold-tolerant, it is cultivated quite widely in Eurasia. Its specific distribution areas are southeastern Europe, western Asia, and China, and its uses are generally landscaping, timber, and so on.

This species has a tall trunk, luxuriant branches and leaves, rapid growth, strong adaptability, is easy to establish, tolerates pruning, and resists smoke and dust, so it is widely planted as a street landscaping tree species and is also a fast-growing timber tree species.

II. Plane Tree Cultivation Techniques

1. Planting time: March 12 to April 15 each year is best, with the local climate as the specific guide;

2. Preliminary preparation: before planting the tree, dig a hole of suitable size, then plant the sapling;

3. Seedling selection: it is best to choose local saplings; saplings grown in a nursery can also be used;

4. Field management: according to local climate conditions, provide appropriate light, watering, and fertilization, etc.

III. Planting Precautions

1. The diameter of the hole dug for the plane tree is generally 100 square, and when planting the sapling, first bury 20 cm, then put the seedling in, then bury the remaining part, after pressing firmly, lift the seedling upward a bit, and finally press firmly again;

2. In addition to choosing local saplings or nursery saplings suitable for local growth, you should also choose high-quality saplings with no pests or diseases, no split trunks, and good growth, so that the survival rate and growth will be better;

3. The plane tree is not strict about soil, but it is suitable for slightly acidic or neutral, well-drained soil. Although it can grow in slightly alkaline soil, yellowing is likely to occur. The soil should also be managed to some extent when planting.
