Cherries are a common fruit in our country, and because of their high nutritional value and good taste, they are deeply loved by people. Every year around May, when they ripen and go on the market, many people buy some to take home and make all kinds of desserts. So where are the main producing areas of cherries?

1. Where are the main producing areas of cherries?

The main producing areas of cherries are in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui, Henan, Gansu, Shaanxi, Shandong, Sichuan and other places in our country, while foreign producing areas are mainly in Canada, Australia, Chile, the United States and other places. In addition, Heilongjiang, Liaoning, Jilin, Yunnan and other places in our country also have a small amount of cultivation.

2. When do cherries ripen and go on the market?

This depends on the region. Generally, the common open-air cherries in the Beijing area start around May 20 on the solar calendar and end around June 20. Other regions are earlier or later depending on their climate characteristics. This year, the area near Xiji Town in Tongzhou, Beijing, was also a few days earlier than last year.

The ripening period of cherries each year is from mid-May to mid-June, and from late May to around June 20 should be the best time to eat them. Because regions differ, the temperatures are also different, so the ripening time will vary slightly. Early cherries generally go on the market in May on the solar calendar and last for a little more than a month, because cherries are not suitable for long-distance transport. Late cherries also go on the market around mid-to-late May, belonging to the follow-up after the earlier ones.

Overall, there are many main producing areas for cherries, both domestically and abroad. Among them, the main domestic producing areas include Shandong, Sichuan, Shaanxi, Gansu, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and other places.
