The king oyster mushroom, also known as Pleurotus eryngii, eryngii mushroom, and snow mushroom, is a wild edible fungus cultivated in many parts of our country. So what are the planting time and methods for king oyster mushrooms? Below, the editor of Tuliu Network will introduce them one by one.

Planting time and methods for king oyster mushrooms:

1. Time

The king oyster mushroom is a low-temperature mushroom. Generally, in the north it can be planted except in summer, but in the south it is generally best to start cultivation in winter, around November. Other regions can determine the cultivation time according to actual conditions, but nowadays most are cultivated in facilities, which can completely control temperature automatically, so basically it can be planted at any time.

2. Inoculation

Usually test tubes are used. Put the sterilized culture medium solution into the test tube, place it at an angle, and let it cool into a slant before starting inoculation. After a week it generally grows full. Then prepare the culture material. Commonly used culture materials include 50% cottonseed hulls, 25% wheat bran, 20% corncob, 4% rice bran, 1% calcium carbonate; or 30% sawdust, 30% wheat bran, 25% corncob, 6% soybean meal, 7% cornmeal, 1% light calcium carbonate, 1% superphosphate. After completion, fill into bags, making long cylindrical bags, then put all the bagged material into a high-temperature cooking boiler and steam it overnight. After cooling, it can be inoculated and planted. In addition, when planting, the sterilization time should be longer than for other fungi, and during sterilization, secondary contamination must also be prevented.

3. Planting management

Stack the fungus bags in a clean and moist greenhouse, sprinkle water once a day to maintain 80% air humidity, then adjust the temperature to 15 to 20 degrees to promote mushroom formation. During the mycelium growth stage, sunlight is not needed. The mycelium should be kept in a completely dark environment, but there must be good ventilation, and temperature and humidity must also be well controlled.

Finally, harvest can be carried out when the spores have not yet been discharged and the mushroom caps are flat and spread out. After harvesting, the king oyster mushrooms should be sent to cold storage as soon as possible, and preservation work should be done well.
