Can scallions be grown in water?
Scallions can of course be grown in water, but this method is generally used only when growing them at home. First prepare a water-holding container, fill it halfway with clean water, then let one third of the scallions come into contact with the water, and just change the water once a day. If growing scallions in soil, pay attention to the following points.
Points to note when growing scallions:
1. Temperature
Scallions like a cool climate and are fairly strong in both cold and heat tolerance. Germination
The suitable temperature is 13—20°C, the suitable temperature for stem and leaf growth is 18—23°C, and the suitable soil temperature for root growth is 14—18°C. At temperatures above 28°C, growth slows down.
2. Time
Generally sow from March to April, or carry out autumn sowing from September to October. Of course, in different regions, the sowing time will also differ.
3. Light
The requirements for sunlight are not strict. In summer, provide shade to avoid direct sun exposure; if the light is too strong, they will not taste good when eaten.
4. Fertilizing
Place the container for growing scallions on a sunny balcony. As long as the temperature is not below 0 degrees, they can generally survive. After a week, the scallions will sprout new shoots; at this time, apply some organic fertilizer promptly, which is more beneficial to the growth of the small scallions.
Scallions are easy to grow and convenient to manage, so you can grow them at home to eat.
