The coral stick is a very suitable succulent plant to grow, so what are the propagation methods for the succulent coral stick? Let's take a look.

1. What is the coral stick?

The scientific name of the coral stick is Euphorbia tirucalli, a plant in the Euphorbiaceae family, Euphorbia genus. It likes warm, dry and sunny environments, is tolerant of drought and partial shade, is not cold-hardy, and dislikes damp shade. It has no obvious dormant period. The optimum growing temperature is 15-25°C, and in winter it should not go below 10°C.

During the growing period, as long as there is a suitable temperature and sufficient light, the winter coral will continuously bloom and bear fruit.

2. Propagation methods for the succulent coral stick

The succulent coral stick is mainly propagated by sowing and cuttings:

1. Sowing

This refers to the propagation method of burying the seeds of the succulent coral stick in soil that has been sprinkled with a chemical agent, then watering, covering with plastic film, and waiting for the succulent coral stick to sprout.

The specific procedure is as follows:

(1) For small-scale propagation, it can be done in a flower pot. Evenly scatter the seeds on the surface and cover with a thin layer of soil;

(2) Then soak up water in a water basin. To keep it moist, the mouth of the flower pot should be covered with glass or plastic film;

(3) Generally, they will sprout in about a week. When new leaves grow, the seedlings can be separated and transplanted.

2. Cuttings

This refers to the propagation method of cutting off the fleshy stem of the succulent coral stick as a cutting, and then inserting it into the soil.

The specific procedure is as follows:

1. Cut a growing branch about 8~10 cm long with a terminal bud, let it dry for 1~2 days, then insert it into sandy soil for rooting;

2. Keep the seedbed or pot soil moist, and regularly spray a fine mist of water on the terminal buds and leaves of the cuttings.
