1. Trellis materials

At present, in the process of establishing a passion fruit orchard, the choice of frame generally includes steel frames, wooden frames (bamboo frames) and concrete frames. Bamboo frames and wooden frames are relatively poor in load-bearing capacity, while steel frames are not wind-resistant, so the most widely used at present is the concrete frame, which is highly practical.

The specifications of the concrete frame are generally chosen as 7 cm in both length and width, with a height of about 2 m 6, and it is best to have steel bars in the middle of the concrete column.

2. Trellis building method

Different cultivation densities also involve some differences in trellis building. At a density of 3 m * 3.5 m, generally about 60 concrete columns are needed per mu of land (flat terrain).

On fully tilled ground, dig holes according to a row spacing of 3 m * 3.5 m, generally with a hole depth of about 60 cm, bury the concrete columns vertically and compact them, keeping the above-ground part of the concrete columns at about 2 m.

After the concrete columns are set up, begin the wire-threading work. Generally, 3.0 plastic-steel wire is chosen, passed through the reserved holes at the top of the concrete columns, forming a crisscrossing steel wire net at the top of the concrete columns.

In order to maintain the stability of the concrete columns and keep the steel wires taut, the outermost ring of concrete columns needs to lean outward, and the steel wires need to be tightened and fixed with stakes to avoid the possibility of the columns collapsing later or the steel wires sagging.

2. How much does it roughly cost to build a trellis for passion fruit?

Including the cost of materials such as concrete columns and plastic-steel wire, plus labor costs, the cost of building a trellis for one mu of land is about 3000-4000 yuan (taking a certain place in Guangxi as an example). If wooden frames or steel frames are used, the cost will differ to some extent.
