Many people know that succulents are plants with a very strong ability to reproduce, and that a picked-off leaf can also grow back into a succulent. So how do you plant succulent petals? What propagation methods do succulents have?

1. How to plant succulent petals?

1. Gently shake the leaves on the succulent plant and pick them off;

2. Prepare the growing medium and lay the picked-off leaves flat on the medium;

3. During the growth process, sprinkle a small amount of water as appropriate; generally after 2-4 weeks, small buds will sprout;

4. Wait until the small buds grow roots and the mother leaf has been fully absorbed of its nutrients and shriveled, then the new buds can be picked off and replanted.

The growing medium for succulents is mostly a mixture of various materials, including akadama, coconut coir, ceramsite and pumice, etc. If you do not know how to mix it yourself, you can buy potting soil at a flower shop.

The picked-off leaves need to be laid flat on the medium, or leaned diagonally against the pot wall; they must never be inserted into the soil, otherwise the leaves will rot and the succulent will not survive.

After the old leaves of the succulent have grown into new buds, carefully take them out and plant them in a prepared container. Water appropriately, provide light, and plant according to normal succulent planting methods.

2. What propagation methods do succulents have?

1. Grafting: refers to the method of taking a succulent in its growth period as a scion and grafting it onto a suitable rootstock; the rootstock is required to have a thick stem, be a healthy plant, and be free of pests and diseases;

2. Leaf cutting: refers to the method of picking off fresh, mature leaves of a plant and cultivating them into new plants;

3. Adventitious buds: refers to the method of picking off the leaves of succulents in the Kalanchoe group and placing them on soil so that they form a plant of their own;

4. Stem cutting: refers to the method of cutting off part of a mature plant, inserting it into a substrate, and making it survive.
