Cauliflower mushroom is also called cauliflower fungus. It has an extremely high ability to activate immunity and is known as the “king of mushrooms”. It is a very rare and precious medicinal and edible mushroom in the world. Its cultivation benefits are relatively high, so below we will introduce its cultivation techniques.

Cultivation techniques of cauliflower mushroom

1. Making the spawn bags

Mix all raw and auxiliary materials thoroughly according to the formula. Fill each bag with about 400-500 grams of material (calculated as dry material), then put on rings, seal the openings, and carry out routine operations such as high-pressure sterilization. Preliminary mycelial colonization can be completed in about 40-60 days. After colonization is completed, post-ripening cultivation should be carried out.

Reference formula 1: miscellaneous wood sawdust 56%, cottonseed hull 25%, wheat bran 16%, gypsum powder 1.3%, quicklime 1.5%, potassium dihydrogen phosphate 0.2%.

Formula 2: miscellaneous wood sawdust 38%, soybean straw or cotton straw 20%, corncob 22%, wheat bran 16%, corn flour 3%, calcium calcium 1%.

2. Fruiting management

(1) Arrange the spawn bags upright on the fruiting racks, raise the temperature of the shed (room) to about 22°C, maintain air humidity at about 80%, and light intensity above 500 lux. When necessary, the sealing caps can be loosened, or the tying cords can be untied (but the bag openings should not be pulled open), and intermittent red light irradiation can be used to stimulate the spawn bags to produce primordia as soon as possible.

(2) Determine the method or position of opening the bags according to where the primordia occur. After opening the bags, the conditions should be adjusted to: temperature 16-19°C, relative air humidity 90-95%, 800-1000 lux of scattered light, and fresh air.

(3) When the main stem of the fruiting body gradually differentiates into small lobes, be careful that the plastic film at the bag opening does not hinder growth. The fruiting body must be fully exposed to the air, which is beneficial to the normal development of the fruiting body. After culturing for 30 days under such environmental conditions, the fruiting body can be regarded as mature.

3. Harvesting

Harvest when the lobes of the cauliflower mushroom unfold, the edges show large wavy shapes, and the underside is slightly white “fuzzy”, or when the color of the fruiting body lobes changes from milky white or pale white to light yellow.
