Bryophyllum has very strong growth ability. It is also known as “air plant” (Bryophyllum pinnatum). Its leaves are very peculiar, and new small leaflets grow along the edges of the main leaves, which is quite lovely. So how do you grow Bryophyllum?

1. Soil: Bryophyllum is suitable for growing in well-drained acidic soil. For pot cultivation, mix 3 parts leaf mold and 1 part sandy soil as the growing medium.

2. Pruning: For newly potted young seedlings, pinch off the growing tips in time to promote branching. For older plants, cut them back short to encourage new shoots.

3. Watering: During the growing season, water slightly more, just keeping the potting soil moist. In autumn and winter, reduce watering.

4. Fertilizing: Fertilizing does not need to be too frequent, otherwise it causes excessive growth and may even cause the plant to rot. During the growing season, fertilize 1 to 2 times a month.

When the stems and leaves of Bryophyllum grow too tall, you can pinch off the growing tips to lower the plant shape and encourage more branches. Repot and renew the soil every spring to maintain a graceful plant form.
