How to grow lemongrass? Master the planting methods and key management points
Lemongrass is also known as lemon citronella and citronella grass. It is a fragrant plant that many flower lovers adore, so how do you grow lemongrass?
It is suited to full sunlight. It is very heat-tolerant, and even in the stifling, sweltering heat of midsummer it can grow smoothly, but be careful to supply enough water. It is suited to cultivation in moist, fertile soil; it is recommended to add plenty of fine-textured leaf mold to the potting soil.
When buying seedlings, it is best to choose individuals that have at least some green leaves. Because the roots go down very deep and the seedlings also grow quite large, it is best to recommend planting them directly in the ground, but if you grow them in pots, you must choose large, deep containers.
It is not cold-tolerant, so take protective measures in winter; as long as the temperature stays above 5°C, it can overwinter outdoors.
The best cultivation period for lemongrass is from March to April. Open a spot about 10 cm deep in the soil, and plant the seeds mixed with fertilizer or plant ash. After lemongrass sprouts, be careful to weed, fertilize and water it in time, and also make sure lemongrass gets sufficient sunlight, so that lemongrass can grow strong and healthy.
