When do soybeans generally mature and get harvested?
Soybeans have a long history of cultivation in China and are one of the country's important food crops. They can be used to press oil, brew soy sauce, make soy products and extract protein, and many farmers grow them. When do soybeans mature?
1. When do soybeans mature
Classified by sowing period, the maturity times of soybeans are roughly as follows:
1. Spring soybean type
The northern spring soybean type is sown in April-May and matures around September; the Huang-Huai-Hai spring soybean type is sown from late April to early May and matures from late August to early September; the Yangtze River spring soybean type is sown from late March to early April and matures during July; the southern spring soybean type is sown from February to early March and mostly matures in mid-June.
2. Huang-Huai-Hai summer soybean type
Sown in June after the wheat harvest, it matures from September to early October.
3. Southern summer soybean type
Generally sown in May to early June after the wheat harvest or the harvest of other winter-sown crops, it matures from late September to October.
4. Autumn soybean type
Sown from late July to early August, it matures in early to mid-November.
2. Characteristics of mature soybeans
1. After soybeans mature, the leaves fall off.
2. When soybeans mature, the color of the stems changes from green to yellow.
3. The color of the pods also changes from green to yellow, and the moisture content is low. Shake the soybean plant with your hand and you can hear the sound of the seeds.
4. If there are burst soybeans dropped in the field, combined with the above 3 points, they should be harvested in time.
After the soybeans are harvested, they go through multiple processes such as drying and sorting, and then are carefully stored.
