Dragon bamboo, also known as hemp bamboo, is a good building and weaving bamboo material. After processing, rinsing and boiling, it can be made into shredded bamboo shoots and dried bamboo shoots, so its application value is extremely high. So how do you grow dragon bamboo?

1. Soil cultivation methods:

1. Flower pot selection: Fortune bamboo (lucky bamboo) can be grown in clay pots, plastic pots, porcelain pots, or ceramic pots. Fortune bamboo can be planted in pots with a diameter of 12—24 cm.

2. Potting soil preparation: Fortune bamboo is suitable for growing in soil rich in humus and fertile. Common home soil mixes are as follows: garden soil:leaf mold=5:5; peat soil:leaf mold:sand=6:3:1.

3. Temperature: If it is grown in a relatively warm place, then there is basically no need to worry; it can grow all year round. However, if it is in a place with high altitude or high latitude, then attention is needed, especially when winter arrives. When the temperature begins to drop in late autumn, be sure to protect it from the cold.

4. Light: It is best to place it in a spot with scattered light, not too shady, and not in direct light. In summer, if the light feels too strong, shade it appropriately.

5. Fertilizer: When the plant first begins to take root, apply a small amount of compound fertilizer so that its leaves will be glossy. In addition, a small amount of nutrient solution can be applied every three weeks.

6. Fortune bamboo is not considered a water-loving plant, so during the growing process, attention must be paid to water control. In summer, because the weather is relatively hot, it needs to be watered once a day. If it is winter, then it is recommended to water about once every week; the frequency should not be too high.

2. Hydroponic methods:

1. Choosing a container: Choose the corresponding container according to the form of water cultivation and the length of the material, among other factors. For example, for shaped water cultivation, choose a shallow-rimmed flower pot. When the requirements for plant water cultivation are not high, wine bottles, beverage bottles, and the like around you can also be used.

2. Water cultivation of potted plants: Take the potted plant out with its roots, wash it clean, cut off some old roots and residual roots, and then directly grow it in water.

3. Water cuttings from branches: Cut a well-grown mature branch, use a sharp knife to cut the base of the cutting slightly at a slant. The cut should be smooth to increase the area for absorbing water and nutrients, and insert the base leaves into the bottle. It is enough for the water to submerge the base 1-2 cm deep, and in about 15 days silver-white fibrous roots can grow.

4. Single-branch and multi-branch water cultivation: For single-branch water cultivation, the bottle mouth chosen should not be too large, and the bottle height should be about one third of the branch height; for multi-branch water cultivation, the bottle mouth should be large, and the branches should be cut to the same length, preferably inserted at a slant to form a geometric composition with the bottle.

5. Shaped water cultivation: When fortune bamboo is still a young plant, various shapes can be made by twisting and bending the branches, and it can maintain that shape after maturing. Mature stems have a strong ability to sprout and root, and can be cut to different lengths, then tied and shaped into a tower shape and so on, which is the product sold on the market as lucky bamboo. Choose a shallow pot slightly larger than the tower stem, place the tower in it, and add clean water to slightly cover its basal nodes.
