Sprouting beans are the selected (small) soybeans or (small) mung beans used to soak bean sprouts. Generally, in southern China during the Dragon Boat Festival, they are boiled together with garlic and eaten, and they taste very good. So when are sprouting beans sown?

1. Land selection and preparation

Sprouting beans have low requirements for soil fertility and are suitable for planting on flat plains, gentle slopes, or plots with medium fertility, avoiding low-lying plots. After selecting the land, apply 100-120kg of diammonium phosphate, 30kg of urea, and 30kg of potassium fertilizer per hectare. During the soybean pod-filling stage, pay attention to controlling the soybean pod borer. Harvest at the appropriate time when mature.

2. Sowing time

Suitable for sowing in early May, maturing in mid-to-late September.

3. Sowing

It is recommended to choose a small square container for planting. The container does not need to be too large; generally, a size of 40*50 cm is sufficient. When sowing, generally place them directly on the soil surface, letting them sink in slightly. Cover them with a covering to keep them moist. Sprouting beans mostly rely on water to grow and do not need fertilizing.

4. Field management techniques

After planting, water the field roughly once, trying to water every plant. Then, one week later, thin or fill in the seedlings in the field to ensure uniform seedlings and complete establishment. After that, within five to seven days, carry out one cultivation, weeding, and fertilizing for the soybeans, and water once at the same time. This fertilizing generally uses a mix of compound fertilizer and urea. The second fertilizing should wait until the soybeans bloom and form pods. At this time, the soybeans need certain nutrients for growth, and to make the pods plump, a little potassium fertilizer and phosphate fertilizer can be applied. Then you can wait for the fruit to mature.
