How to grow loquat? A step-by-step guide to the planting method
Every year from late March to early May, it is again the season for loquats to hit the market. Loquats are sweet and sour and very delicious, and they are also an excellent green food. So do you know how to grow loquats?
1. Seed collection
Loquat tree planting generally requires collecting seeds from late October to mid-November, then after the fruit skin softens, removing the flesh, cleaning the seeds with water and storing them.
2. Sowing
Prepare loose soil. Sowing in early March is best. After sowing the seeds, cover with a layer of soil, which can help the seedlings take root, then cover with a layer of straw. They will sprout after about 40 days.
3. Management
After the seedlings emerge, weed them, and in May-June apply nitrogen fertilizer once every 10 days. In July-August, apply phosphorus and potassium fertilizer and reduce nitrogen fertilizer. After September, generally stop fertilizing to prevent excessive growth. Before fertilizing, weed first to reduce nutrient consumption.
4. Transplanting
Loquats grow relatively fast, and one-year-old seedlings can be transplanted. Transplanting is generally done in February-March. In addition, cut off the side branches and leaves, and after planting, water thoroughly.
