How to Plant Longan Seeds? A Step-by-Step Guide to Growing Longan Seedlings
Longan, also known as guiyuan, is one of the seasonal fruits of summer. Its flesh is sweet and can be eaten fresh or dried for medicinal use, and its seed can also be grown as a potted plant. So how should longan seeds be planted?
How to plant longan seeds?
1. First wash the eaten guiyuan seeds clean and remove the flesh thoroughly. If the flesh is not cleaned off, the water tends to smell bad and the seeds tend to rot. Soak them in clean water for a full seven days, changing the water every day.
2. After soaking for a full seven days, the longan seeds will crack open along a seam. At this point, before sowing, prepare a pot and put nutrient soil in it, then water the nutrient soil thoroughly.
3. Place the longan seeds with the sprouting opening facing up and plant them closely in circles on top.
4. Then cover the surface of the longan seeds with a thin layer of nutrient soil, spray it thoroughly wet with water, then cover it with small stones on top, press down with your hand, and spray the stone layer with water until thoroughly wet.
5. Just place it in the living room or on the desk and wait quietly for it to sprout; there is no need to take it directly to the balcony for sunlight. After 3 days you can see that the guiyuan has already begun to sprout, with very small sprouts that have not yet broken through the stones. After about another week or so, they will grow bigger.
Once the longan seedlings have all grown out, they can be cared for just like ordinary potted plants. After reading this, don't you think it is quite simple? Friends who are interested might as well give it a try.
