How to Plant Cactus Seeds? A Detailed Guide to Sowing Methods
Cactus ball is a general term for spherical succulent plants in the Cactaceae family, and is a widely cultivated potted plant. It is usually propagated by grafting or cuttings, but do you know how to plant it from seeds?
How do you plant cactus seeds?
1. Environment
The three seasons of late spring, early summer, and early autumn all work, when nighttime temperatures are above 18 degrees and daytime temperatures are above 28 degrees. Seed germination requires direct light, but the light must not be too strong; under full-sun conditions, 80% shade is needed.
2. Treatment
Before sowing, disinfect the seeds and soak the flower pot in water, with the water depth at half the height of the pot; after half a minute the soil has basically absorbed enough water, so take out the pot and set it aside. The soil does not need to be disinfected with potassium permanganate solution or high temperature in a microwave.
3. Planting
After treatment, mix the seeds with soil and then pot them. After potting, there is no need to cover with soil, but the pot needs to be covered with plastic film. Then it is enough to give light for 1-2 hours each in the morning and evening; because varieties differ, germination times also vary greatly, with fast ones germinating in 2-3 days and slow ones germinating only in 10-15 days.
After the cactus seedlings emerge, routine care such as watering and fertilizing is all that is needed.
