Tinospora sagittata is a traditional Chinese medicine of our country, and in recent years the demand for it has been gradually increasing, but because of long-term disorderly harvesting in various production areas, its resources have decreased year by year, and the market price has risen. So can Tinospora sagittata be cultivated artificially? How is it planted?

1. Can Tinospora sagittata be cultivated artificially?

Tinospora sagittata can be cultivated artificially, mainly by two methods: cuttings and root division.

1. Root division: In spring, during March-April, when harvesting, cut the underground rhizome into 10-20 cm small sections, plant them in the soil, and sow them in holes at a row spacing of 50 cm and a plant spacing of 25 cm. Be careful to water and keep moist; after one month, new sprouts will emerge

2. For cuttings, in May cut the aboveground part into sections; each section must have two to three nodes. Insert the lower one to two nodes into the soil and insert the cuttings at the above row spacing and plant spacing. After inserting, be careful to provide shade and keep moist.

3. Management: When the seedlings are one chi tall, set up trellises and weed in time. Fertilization can be done in mid-June: mix decomposed manure and compound fertilizer. From August to the end of September is the rhizome enlargement period, and foliar spraying of Gendaling can be done.

2. Planting prospects

1. Resource decline: Wild, perennial Tinospora sagittata is not easy to restore growth. Because of long-term disorderly harvesting in various production areas, its resources have decreased year by year. Even high prices cannot stimulate more output, and what can be harvested is also getting smaller and smaller because the growth period is insufficient.

2. Demand does not decrease: In recent years, traditional Chinese medicine has received more and more attention. Because of its good anti-inflammatory effect, Tinospora sagittata has been developed and used by many pharmaceutical companies, and the annual rigid demand for Tinospora sagittata is obvious. Therefore, demand will only rise year by year, and the supply-demand gap will further widen.

3. Production decreases year by year. It is already obvious that inventories of Tinospora sagittata in various places are in urgent shortage. Under the current situation of a widening supply-demand gap, how to develop and harvest wild resources has become a difficult problem before us. Before this difficult problem is overcome, the upward trend of Tinospora sagittata in the future will also be difficult to change.

Tinospora sagittata can be used to treat sore throat, carbuncles, boils, and toxic sores, diarrhea, dysentery, and abdominal pain. Its planting prospects are also quite good. If you want to plant it, you might as well give it a try.
