How to Grow Scented Mint? A Step-by-Step Guide to Planting Methods
Scented mint is also known as Renda grass or Su mint, originated in Europe, is aromatic, has blue flowers, and is mostly grown in pots. So how do you grow it?
How to grow scented mint?
1. Choosing a pot
For the flower pot, just use a larger one. If you buy mint and bring it home, immediately repot it into a pot with a diameter greater than 20 cm. The soil must be breathable, loose, and fertile. You can use leaf mold plus coarse sand, or ordinary soil mixed with some chicken manure soil. The richer the better.
2. Sowing
The sowing period for scented mint is spring or autumn. Because the seeds are very small, they can be mixed with fine sand before sowing. After sowing, keep the soil moist.
3. Placement
Do not face the placement due south; make sure it can get at least half a day of sunlight. If placed indoors, be sure to keep the air circulating, regularly take it outside to sun it, and also ensure the soil has a certain degree of moisture.
4. Water and fertilizer
Apply some organic fertilizer every one or two months. It is best not to use chemical fertilizers or bought fertilizers, as they easily make the soil compact. Watering should be decided according to the dryness and wetness of the potting soil and the season. In summer, you can water a bit more; in winter, water less.
Growing mint is still relatively easy, and the mint you grow yourself can also be used to make mint tea.
