How to grow and care for the creeping cactus
The creeping cactus is a member of the cactus family; it is a succulent potted ornamental plant that grows in rows like coral, with segments of different sizes. So how do you grow it?
How to grow the creeping cactus?
1. Soil
The creeping cactus needs a sandy loam soil with good drainage and air permeability, which can be mixed from river sand, coal cinders and leaf mold. It is best to find a large flower pot; a coarse clay pot is best of all. Mix the loam well but keep it moist when putting it in.
2. Planting
Plant creeping cactus with strong roots and stems in the potting soil, then spray water so the pot soil blends together, and place it in the sun to bake thoroughly. Never water it frequently; it is best to keep the potting soil dry. After roughly some time, small yellowish spines will grow on the surface of the roots and stems.
3. Fertilizing
In spring, summer and autumn, apply a dilute decomposed fertilizer once every half a month, and you can drip the soil layer in the pot until it is moist. Because being too dry for too long is also bad for it, and being wet for a long time will cause the roots and stems to rot.
4. Watering
If the soil is not too dry, keep watering once a week; do not water frequently, otherwise the creeping cactus will easily rot. Generally, for the low-temperature drought dormancy type, water more during vigorous growth and control water in winter. For the high-temperature drought dormancy type, it goes dormant in summer and should be watered less.
