Common aliases for Isatis root include indigo root, blue indigo root, and Daqing root; it is a traditional Chinese medicinal herb. The following introduces Isatis root cultivation techniques.

I. Site selection and fertilization

Choose deep soil layers, loose and fertile soil texture, well-drained sandy soil, or soil rich in humus for planting. Remove stones and other debris from the soil completely, then apply 3000 kg of farmyard manure per mu in combination with plowing, rake finely and level, then make beds or ridges.

II. Sowing

Choose late April as the sowing time, open 2cm deep furrows on the bed surface or ridges, reasonably control plant and row spacing, evenly broadcast the seeds into the furrows, then cover with soil and press firm, water to maintain soil moisture content at 60%-70%, and seedlings generally emerge after one week.

III. Seedling stage management

When the seedlings grow to 4-5cm, thinning and final singling should be carried out; during final singling, loosen the soil and remove weeds, control the plant spacing at 3-4cm, and after final singling the soil should not be too wet, as this is beneficial for root growth.

The above is an introduction to Isatis root cultivation techniques; we hope it is helpful to everyone.
