The purpose of grape root-restriction cultivation technology is to provide a brand-new grape cultivation method, namely the ridge-mounding shallow-planting root-restriction cultivation technique for grapes. With this cultivation method, grape seedlings can enter the full fruiting stage in just 15 months, and the canopy growth, fruit yield and quality can be controlled artificially. This ensures that nutrients such as fertilizer and water are mainly used to form the fruit.

On the ground to be planted, soil is mounded into ridges at a certain spacing, with drainage ditches opened on both sides of the soil ridges. The drainage ditches are 15-20 cm deep and 20-30 cm wide. Organic fertilizer is applied on the surface of the soil ridges and mixed with the soil to form a 20-30 cm nutrient soil layer. Grape seedlings are then planted on the nutrient soil layer. When planting, the seedlings must be planted shallowly, with the soil mounded around the seedling to a depth of 2-5 cm, and watered manually. After the grape seedlings produce new roots, a 2-5 cm layer of organic fertilizer is spread on the surface of the soil ridges where the grape seedlings are planted to form an organic fertilizer layer, and then a layer of straw is spread over the organic layer. Drip irrigation pipes are laid in the middle of the straw. The grape seedlings are planted in the middle of the soil ridges, with a plant spacing of 1.5-2.5 m and a row spacing of 2.5-3 m. The dripping speed of the drip irrigation pipes ensures that the water content of the nutrient soil layer and the organic fertilizer layer reaches 45%-55%.
