How to Plant Rosa banksiae? A Detailed Guide to Planting Methods
Rosa banksiae is one of China's traditional flowers. Rosa banksiae also has a very beautiful name called "Shilixiang" (Ten-Mile Fragrance), and some people call it "Qilixiang" (Seven-Mile Fragrance); it sounds like an ancient, elegant name full of poetry. So how do you plant Rosa banksiae?
1. Light
Rosa banksiae needs to receive sufficient light. Although it tolerates partial shade, long-term insufficient light will cause various diseases. At the same time, avoid exposure to harsh sunlight; in summer it can be moved to a spot with diffused light.
2. Pot and Soil
The pot for planting Rosa banksiae should be chosen with a relatively large space, and choose suitable soil for planting Rosa banksiae, because Rosa banksiae likes loose, breathable soil that is good for root respiration, and the drainage of the flower pot must also be of high quality
3. Watering
Rosa banksiae's water needs differ across the seasons. In winter, water less; just keep the soil moist. In spring, water appropriately more, once in the morning and once in the evening, and during the peak growing season the amount of water should be increased further. In summer, water evaporates relatively quickly, so it also needs more watering.
4. Fertilizing
Rosa banksiae can be fertilized generously. First, the base fertilizer must be sufficient; generally animal manure or bean cake is used. Second, apply liquid fertilizer once every 15 days. Apply a concentrated fertilizer before sprouting, but stop fertilizing during the flowering period, and continue applying liquid fertilizer after the flowers fade. After winter begins, also apply a once of decomposed organic fertilizer.
