Andrographis paniculata is a medicinal plant with effects of clearing heat and detoxifying, reducing inflammation, and relieving swelling and pain, so how do you grow Andrographis paniculata? What are its main effects?

1. How to grow Andrographis paniculata?

1. Choose suitable land for planting, preferably loose, fertile soil with good aeration.

After choosing good soil, the land must be prepared in a timely manner. The depth of land preparation must not be less than 30 cm. During land preparation, all weeds in the soil need to be picked out. After plowing, apply enough base fertilizer, and then do a good job of disinfection.

2. Choose a suitable time for sowing, avoid overcast and rainy days, pre-sprout the seeds before sowing, and after sowing, water and fertilizer can be applied.

When choosing seeds, be sure to select superior seeds that are disease-free, genetically sound, and free of cracks and wounds, and determine the sowing quantity according to the planting area.

Pre-sprouting steps: Clean the seeds thoroughly, then place them into wood ash and mix evenly, because wood ash can effectively promote seed germination and increase their growth rate.

After mixing evenly, sow the seeds onto the soil by broadcasting, then cover with a layer of soil about 1 cm thick. Spray with agents such as double-rose preparation, mainly to reduce the incidence of damping-off and Rhizoctonia solani blight.

3. During the growth period of Andrographis paniculata, field management must also be done well, such as temperature, watering, and topdressing.

Andrographis paniculata prefers a hot and humid climate. It likes sufficient sunlight and fertilizer. The suitable temperature for seed germination and seedling growth is 25-30°C. When the temperature drops to 15-20°C, growth slows; when the temperature drops to about 8°C, growth stops; when exposed to low temperatures of about 0°C or frost, the whole plant withers.

After sowing, when the seedlings have grown to a certain extent, transplant them in a timely manner and maintain good planting density. After transplanting, water them promptly to promote root establishment and development of the seedlings. Then after about 21 days, cultivation can be carried out once, and topdressing should be done together with cultivation. When topdressing, be sure to apply plenty of nitrogen fertilizer, and fully decomposed farmyard manure can be used.

2. Main Effects of Andrographis paniculata

Andrographis paniculata has many effects, with the main effects being anti-inflammatory, antipyretic, and immune-enhancing, among others. In addition, it also has certain effects on the function of the pituitary-adrenal cortical system and on the cardiovascular and blood systems.
