How to Grow Ginger in Water at Home: Methods and Steps
Ginger is the most essential seasoning in every household, so sometimes people buy a lot of it at once, but if they cannot finish eating it, the ginger will sprout. When that happens, it can be put to use making a potted plant. So how do you grow ginger in water at home?
1. How to grow ginger in water at home
1. First, prepare a piece of ginger that has already sprouted. In many cases, when too much ginger is bought for the home and cannot be eaten in time, the ginger grows small sprouts. Generally, it is not recommended to eat ginger that has sprouted, to avoid poisoning or stomach pain. But you can use sprouted ginger as the seed for a potted ginger plant.
2. Next, prepare a container such as a tray, put a little water in it, and place the sprouted ginger directly into the tray. Put the tray with the ginger directly in a warm place. This will make the ginger mistakenly think spring has arrived, and then it will strive to grow.
3. After the ginger grows new sprouts, do not rush to plant the ginger directly into potting soil. Instead, change the water for the ginger every day, and be careful to keep the indoor temperature stable, not fluctuating between high and low. Wait until the ginger's new sprouts have grown to about 5 cm long, then you can directly move the ginger into potting soil to grow.
For later care of the ginger, note that you should not give the ginger too much sunlight, because ginger is a plant that tolerates shade but not sun exposure, and it has requirements for sunlight intensity. If you do not follow the plant's growth habits, it will affect the ginger's growth speed or cause the ginger to stop growing altogether.
