Cypress vine, commonly known as the five-pointed star flower. The Book of Songs says: “The cypress vine is the dodder, spread upon the pines and cypresses”, meaning brothers and relatives clinging to one another. The cypress vine's blooms are delicate and beautiful, so how is it grown?

1. Cypress vine is basically grown by sowing seeds and raising seedlings. Sow in the seedbed in late April, covering with soil 2-3 times the amount of the seeds. Seedlings will emerge in about 10-15 days after sowing. When the seedlings grow 2-3 leaves, transplant and set them out promptly; the seedlings must not be too large.

2. Cypress vine can be sown directly near a fence at a plant spacing of 30 cm. For planting cypress vine in the open ground, choose a spot sheltered from the wind, facing the sun, with loose soil and good drainage. When setting out, be sure to water thoroughly, then water once every 7-10 days.

3. Potted cypress vine should use potting soil. During the growing period, if the base fertilizer for open-ground cypress vine is insufficient, apply liquid fertilizer 1-2 times before flowering. When potting up cypress vine, place a little piece of horse hoof as base fertilizer at the bottom of the pot, then apply liquid fertilizer once a month, and water according to the condition of the potting soil. Note that in the rainy season there must be no water accumulation in the pot, otherwise the roots are prone to rot.
