Black Summer generally refers to what we commonly call Black Summer grapes, also known as Summer Black seedless, which is a European-American hybrid variety currently cultivated in Hunan, Gansu, Qingdao and other places. So when does it ripen? What characteristics does it have?
When does Black Summer ripen?
Black Summer generally ripens in mid-to-late July, but the ripening time varies slightly from region to region. For example, Black Summer in the Zhangjiagang area of Jiangsu ripens its berries from July 10 to July 20, while in the Yunnan area it begins to ripen in April. In addition, Black Summer grown in greenhouses ripens about one month earlier than that grown in the open field.
What characteristics does Black Summer have?
1. Seedless and juicy
Seedless, with relatively high sweetness, truly achieving high sugar and low acid, with a rich aroma and delicate flesh, sweet and delicious. Pick one, put it in your mouth, and it bursts with juice on entry, sweet and refreshing, delicious and hitting the taste buds directly, with an endless aftertaste after eating.
2. Rich in nutrients
Summer Black grapes have good health care and beauty benefits. They are rich in calcium, potassium, iron, vitamin B, vitamin C and so on. Regular consumption of black grapes is greatly beneficial for neurasthenia and excessive fatigue. Black raisins have a very high content of sugar and iron and are an excellent tonic.
Grape skins contain the antioxidant “resveratrol”, which is very helpful for softening blood vessels and skin care. So when eating grapes, it is best to eat them together with the skin.
3. High yield
Using a high, wide, drooping trellis system, when 110 plants are planted per 667 sq m, the yield can reach 18000-22500 kg/ha.
Because Black Summer berries tend to be relatively small under natural growth conditions, timely fruit thinning is necessary during artificial cultivation to ensure its growth and guarantee sales.
