How to Grow Wheat Sprouts? A Detailed Guide to Planting Methods and Techniques
Wheat sprouts are an annual herbaceous plant with a flowering and fruiting period from July to September. They are widely cultivated around the world, and in the northern regions of our country the cultivated yield is extremely large. So how do you grow them?
How to grow wheat sprouts?
1. Land preparation
Break up the soil clods finely, level the field, then spread 4,000 jin of farmyard manure, turn the soil over once more, mix the fertilizer evenly, then dig a small trench every 1 m to about 1.5 m to prepare for drainage and irrigation.
2. Sprouting
First soak the wheat sprout seeds in clean water overnight to ensure the seeds absorb enough water, then take them out to sprout.
3. Sowing
In the North China region of our country, sowing is generally done around November in winter, while in the Northeast region it is done in March or April in spring. Spread the seeds evenly in the trenches, then cover them with soil.
4. Field management
When a fine layer of tender green has grown throughout the wheat field, we can carry out the first fertilization and watering. At this time, watering can be done by irrigation, and fertilization mainly uses urea to promote seedling growth; the fertilizer can be spread directly or dissolved in water for irrigation. The second fertilization is carried out when the wheat seedlings tiller.
In addition, during the planting period, pest and disease control work must also be done well, spraying the corresponding agents in advance.
