When do Schisandra berries generally ripen, in which month?
Schisandra generally ripens from July to October, and the timing varies depending on the place of origin, variety, climate and other factors. It is currently cultivated in Heilongjiang, Jilin, Liaoning, Inner Mongolia, Hebei, Shanxi, Ningxia, Gansu, Shandong and other places. So what should be paid attention to when planting it?
Points to note when planting Schisandra
1. Timing
If using seeds, sow them in autumn and spring for seedling raising; for layering, do it in early spring, then cut off the branches in late autumn for transplanting; for cuttings, do it during the rainy season after flowering, and they can be transplanted in spring.
2. Seeds
When sowing, soak the seeds in cold water for 2-3 days, then put them in a basin containing a gibberellin solution and soak for one day, take them out and rinse them repeatedly with clean water about 3 times, finally mix them evenly with some wet river sand, wrap them in a wet towel and bury them in the soil. After about 10 days, white sprouts will grow, and then they can be sown.
3. Planting
The distance from the tree stump is 60 cm, planting one plant on each side. This planting method will greatly increase the yield. For artificial trellises, plant Schisandra seedlings at a row spacing of 100-50 cm and 60-50 cm. The main purpose of the north-south rows is ventilation and light transmission, and the hole is dug to a depth of 30 cm, with fertilizer and soil evenly buried in the hole. When planting the seedlings, bury half of the soil, then lift the seedling slightly, which helps the roots spread and improves the survival rate. Firm the soil, water, soak, and then cover with another layer of soil.
In addition, pest and disease control is also an important factor affecting the yield and quality of Schisandra, and special attention should be paid to it.
