What are the effects and uses of methamidophos?
Methamidophos, commonly known as duomieling, is a highly toxic pesticide, so what are the effects of methamidophos?
1. Introduction to methamidophos
Methamidophos, commonly known as duomieling, is an organophosphorus compound, a white needle-like crystal, easily soluble in water; alcohols, relatively easily soluble in chloroform, benzene, ether, and in toluene; its solubility in xylene does not exceed 10%. It hydrolyzes slowly in weakly acidic; weakly alkaline media, and easily hydrolyzes in strongly alkaline solutions.
Methamidophos is usually used as a pesticide. Due to its high toxicity, it has been banned in Japan and some other countries, and mainland China also announced a stop to its production and use starting in 2008.
In addition to methamidophos, China also stopped the production, circulation and use of parathion, methyl parathion, monocrotophos and phosphamidon.
2. The effects of methamidophos
It is a broad-spectrum insecticide used for the control of cotton red spider mites, mites, aphids, etc., and has a certain control effect against pests with resistance to pesticides.
The specific methods of use are:
1. For 50% emulsifiable concentrate, use a 1000-fold dilution (50-100 ml per mu mixed with 50-57 kg of water) for spraying, which can effectively control cotton aphids, cotton bollworms, cotton red spider mites, cotton thrips, rice planthoppers, rice borers, peanut aphids, soybean borers, fruit tree aphids and red spider mites, as well as wheat aphids and red spider mites and wheat aphids.
2. To control corn borers, use 50 ml per mu mixed with 100-125 kg of water and pour it into the whorl.
3. Using 1/500 of the seed amount as the pesticide dose for seed dressing can control soil-dwelling pests, cutworms, white grubs and mole crickets.
4. When rice planthoppers and rice borers occur in large numbers, use 100-125 ml per mu mixed with 300 kg of water and splash it on.
However, short-term exposure to methamidophos (oral, inhalation, skin, mucous membranes) in large amounts can cause acute poisoning, so protective measures must be taken during use.
