How to Apply Water-Soluble Fertilizer to Apple Trees? A Detailed Fertilization Plan
Apple is a common fruit, and because of its long growth cycle and high fertilizer demand, reasonable and proper fertilization can increase fruit yield. Below, the editor brings you the water-soluble fertilizer application plan for apple trees.
1. Base fertilizer
The best time to apply fertilizer is as soon as possible after the fruit is harvested. Around leaf fall, in combination with autumn plowing, apply thoroughly decomposed organic fertilizer mixed evenly with high-phosphorus water-soluble fertilizer, preferably by radial trench or strip trench, about 40cm deep. Use about 4Kg of high-phosphorus fertilizer per mu.
2. Foliar topdressing
High-yield orchards may require as many as 5-7 or more topdressings.
1) Topdressing before budding (mid to late March): After spring germination, water-soluble fertilizer can be applied. During this period, nitrogen fertilizer can be supplemented, such as Moore macroelement high-nitrogen water-soluble fertilizer. A dosage of 5 kg per mu can promote rapid leaf growth and prevent yellowing leaves and other such phenomena. One topdressing is sufficient.
2) Topdressing before flower bud differentiation (May-June): Before the flowering stage of apple trees, a high-phosphorus water-soluble fertilizer can be applied once. Phosphorus has an auxiliary effect on flowering and promoting fruit set in fruit trees. Moore high-phosphorus water-soluble fertilizer or a balanced fertilizer can be chosen. One topdressing is sufficient.
3) Topdressing during the fruit enlargement period (July-August): Topdressing during the fruit enlargement period can increase yield and raise the sugar content of the fruit, promote coloring, and improve firmness. It is an essential topdressing. Mainly apply quick-acting potassium fertilizer, using high-potassium water-soluble fertilizer, about 10 kg per mu, applied 2-3 times.
The application plan for water-soluble fertilizer on apple trees should also be reasonably adjusted and implemented according to local climatic conditions and the growth status of the fruit trees.
