What are the characteristics of nicosulfuron and atrazine? A detailed explanation of the traits of cornfield herbicides
Nicosulfuron and atrazine is a systemic selective pre-emergence and post-emergence soil-sealing herbicide. It is absorbed mainly through the roots, with very little absorption through stems and leaves. Its herbicidal action and selectivity are the same as those of simazine. It is easily leached by rainwater into deeper soil layers and is also effective against some deep-rooted weeds, but it readily causes phytotoxicity. The residual period is also relatively long.
I. Scope of application
Its herbicidal spectrum is relatively broad, and it can control many annual grasses and broadleaf weeds. It is suitable for controlling crabgrass, barnyardgrass, foxtail, sedge, shortawn foxtail, knotweed, lambsquarters, cruciferous and leguminous weeds in dryland crops such as corn, sorghum, sugarcane, fruit trees, nurseries and forest land. It is especially selective toward corn (because corn has a detoxification mechanism in its body), and it also has a certain inhibitory effect on some perennial weeds.
II. Methods of use
1. Use in cornfields. For summer corn, apply the herbicide after sowing and before emergence. In North China, Shandong and other places where soil organic matter is 1%-2%, use 150-200 grams of 50% wettable powder per mu, or 175-200 milliliters of 40% suspension concentrate; in Northeast China where soil organic matter content is greater than 3%-6%, use 200-250 grams of 50% wettable powder per mu, or 200-250 grams of 40% suspension concentrate. Use the lower limit for sandy soil and the upper limit for clayey soil. 1-3 days after sowing, mix with 30 kg of water and spray evenly over the soil surface. For application after corn emergence, the suitable period is the 4-leaf stage of corn and the 2-3 leaf stage of weeds; for sandy soil with low organic matter content, use 200-250 grams of 50% wettable powder or 40% suspension concentrate per mu. Mix with 30-50 kg of water and spray. For spring corn, use 200-250 milliliters of 40% suspension concentrate per mu, add 30-50 kg of water, and spray on the soil surface after sowing and before emergence; in spring drought, incorporate into the soil after application, or irrigate appropriately. Alternatively, treat stems and leaves at the 4-leaf stage of corn. In corn and winter wheat continuous cropping areas, to reduce or eliminate the phytotoxicity of atrazine to wheat, atrazine can be used in reduced amounts and mixed with cyanazine, alachlor, metolachlor, 2,4-D butyl ester, bentazon or chlortoluron herbicides.
2. Use in sugarcane fields. 5-7 days after planting sugarcane, when some weeds have emerged, use 200-250 grams of 50% wettable powder or 40% suspension concentrate per mu, add 30 kg of water, and spray evenly over the ground surface.
3. Use in tea gardens, orchards and vineyards. In April-May, during the peak period of weed germination in the field, first remove the large emerged weeds and overwintering weeds, then use 250-300 grams of 40% suspension concentrate per mu, mix with 40 kg of water, and spray evenly over the soil surface.
When spraying nicosulfuron and atrazine, be careful not to spray repeatedly. It is best to finish spraying in one pass. The most suitable times are before 9 a.m. and after 5 p.m. Pay attention to protection to avoid contact or inhalation.
