How to grow four-season quick cabbage? A detailed guide to planting time and methods
Quick cabbage looks like bok choy but is slightly larger than bok choy, especially resembling a smaller version of napa cabbage. In fact, we can fully classify quick cabbage as——an early-maturing napa cabbage. So what are the planting time and methods for four-season quick cabbage?
Quick cabbage is a common vegetable on the dining table, and it can be planted all year round
1. Choose neutral soil with good drainage and irrigation conditions and fertile texture for planting.
2. Apply sufficient base fertilizer before sowing, using farmyard manure as the base fertilizer.
3. Sowing can be done under suitable temperature conditions. Each region can reasonably arrange the sowing period according to local market vegetable prices and eating habits. The sowing rate is about 400 grams per mu, using broadcast sowing or drilling. For drilling, the row spacing is 15 cm, and the plant spacing is 5-6 cm. Water management should be kept promoting growth throughout.
4. Quick cabbage seedlings can be seen in about 3 days. At about ten days, thinning or transplanting can be carried out to avoid overcrowding affecting growth, and at this time loosen the soil around the roots of the quick cabbage so that the roots can breathe and drain smoothly, avoiding water accumulation at the roots and root rot.
5. After that, the quick cabbage will enter a rapid growth period. At this time, management only requires keeping the soil moist and not too dry. Too dry or too wet will cause loose head formation or tipburn, so reasonable irrigation and timely drainage are needed. At about 30 days, it can be harvested for eating.
