What herbicide works well for weed control in sweet potato fields
During the growing period, sweet potatoes will produce various weeds. If there are few, it is fine to say that they can be pulled out by hand, but if there are many, it is necessary to spray chemicals to control the weeds. So what herbicide should be used for weed control in sweet potato fields?
1. Shudaan
The special post-emergence (1+1+1) herbicide for sweet potato fields can control various grassy weeds in sweet potato fields, and can also eradicate various difficult-to-control broadleaf weeds. It can be used for stem and leaf spraying. The dosage per mu is 40-50 ml, then mix with 30 jin of water, stir evenly, and spray on stems and leaves. In high-temperature and dry weather, the amount of water used can be appropriately increased.
2. Shulaibao
If there is drought, low temperature, or other adverse weather, it may have a slight effect on sweet potato roots, stems, and leaves, but it can recover in a short time and will not affect the later growth and yield of sweet potatoes.
3. Shuwuyou
New-type special herbicide for inter-row weed control after sweet potato emergence. This is a new-type special herbicide for inter-row weed control after sweet potato emergence. It is currently the only post-emergence stem and leaf herbicide in China that controls grassy weeds, broadleaf weeds, and sedge weeds in one application. This product has a unique ternary asymmetric chemical structure and is relatively safe for sweet potatoes. It mainly works by inhibiting the biosynthesis of branched-chain amino acids in weeds, thereby preventing weed cell division and causing the weeds to die directly.
4. Metolachlor herbicide
(1) This product has the advantages of a broad weed-killing spectrum, safety for sweet potatoes, and no impact on subsequent crops. Metolachlor is a systemic conductive selective pre-emergence herbicide. It is mainly absorbed through weed sprouts, has a residual effect period of up to 60-80 days, and has no impact on subsequent crops.
(2) Metolachlor herbicide can effectively control annual grassy weeds such as barnyardgrass, crabgrass, foxtail, and goosegrass, as well as broadleaf weeds such as lambsquarters, velvetleaf, black nightshade, and redroot pigweed. It has a good inhibitory effect on weeds such as volunteer sorghum, cocklebur, field horsetail, and purslane, and has no control effect on weeds such as field bindweed.
(3) After ridging the sweet potato furrows and breaking up the soil clods, wheat stubble fields need to remove the remaining wheat roots and stems. After transplanting sweet potato seedlings, use 60-80 ml of 96% metolachlor herbicide per mu for sandy soil, and 80-100 ml of 96% metolachlor herbicide per mu for clay and loam soil, then mix with 90-120 jin of water and spray evenly over the whole field. One application can suppress weeds throughout the entire growth cycle of sweet potatoes.
