What Are the Growing Conditions for Industrial Hemp? A Detailed Guide
Cannabis is illegal in our country. However, industrial hemp can be cultivated in the Yunnan region. Let's take a look below at the growing conditions for industrial hemp.
Units or individuals that have violated anti-drug laws and regulations may not engage in industrial hemp cultivation.
Processing conditions
(1) Industrial hemp seeds are provided by a licensed seed propagation and cultivation unit or individual
(2) The cultivation area is no less than 100 mu
(3) The cultivation site is more than 1 km away from tourist attractions and high-grade highways
(4) There is a record-keeping management system.
Variety selection
At present, the varieties available for selection include “Yunma No. 1”, which has been cultivated for several years, and the newly launched “Yunma No. 7”. Among them, Yunma No. 7 has a higher content of medicinal components, and the yields of flowers and leaves, hemp stalks and other products of the two varieties are similar.
Soil selection
For industrial hemp cultivation, sandy loam soil with deep soil layers and loose, fertile texture is most suitable. Clayey soil has poor drainage and is prone to water accumulation, which can lead to poor emergence of hemp seedlings and root rot causing premature death.
