During the growth period, peanut plants may develop yellow leaves due to factors such as climate, fertilizer and temperature, so attention should be paid when growing them, and if yellow leaves appear, remedial measures should be taken in time. So what is going on with yellow leaves in peanut plants?

Cause 1: Iron deficiency

When peanut plants are deficient in iron, the leaves turn yellow. Only the upper leaves of the peanut plant turn yellow, while the lower leaves remain green. In severe cases, the leaf veins of the peanut leaves also become chlorotic. The size of the peanut leaves does not change, only the color changes.

Solution: Check whether there are signs of iron deficiency. If so, a 0.1%-0.2% ferrous sulfate solution can be sprayed on the leaves, once every 5-7 days, for 3-4 consecutive sprays.

Cause 2: Zinc deficiency

Zinc deficiency in peanut plants causes the leaves to turn yellow and white, and the leaves become smaller. The most obvious feature is that the peanut leaves grow in clusters and the plant becomes shorter.

Solution: Supplement chelated zinc or 10 grams of zinc sulfate in time.

Cause 3: Nitrogen deficiency

When peanut plants are deficient in nitrogen, the leaves begin to fade and turn yellow starting from the old leaves, and the leaves become smaller and thinner. The plant will be shorter than high-yielding plants. After summer peanut crops enter autumn, the peanut plants enter the critical pod-filling period. If there is too much rain, trace elements in the soil, such as iron, zinc and nitrogen, will be lost, and this will be even more obvious in sandy soil plots.

Solution: After yellow leaves appear on peanut plants, use a sprayer with about 10 grams of 0.1% urea. After one spraying, the yellow leaf phenomenon in peanut plants can be effectively controlled.
