Root rot generally occurs from late March to early April, and enters its peak period in May, causing the roots of plants to rot and die. So how is it treated? How is it prevented?

How to treat root rot?

The treatment methods and medications used differ for root rot occurring in different plants. For example, for wheat root rot, use 50% iprodione or 50% dimethachlon, applying 500-750 g per hm2 as a spray; for tomato root rot, use Baitai (a fungicide) at 1000-1500 times dilution plus Wojiafu (a root-promoting agent) at 1000 times dilution for root drenching.

How to prevent root rot?

1. Apply more microbial fertilizer, EM stock solution, to improve the growing environment. Increase organic matter content, improve soil structure, activate the soil layer, inhibit pest and disease pathogens, and prevent root rot and other diseases.

2. Irrigate reasonably and strengthen the management of soil, fertilizer and water. When irrigating, use EM stock solution diluted at a ratio of 1:100-200.

3. Handle diseased roots, isolate, and disinfect the soil. Dig deep trenches of more than 1 m around the affected area to prevent the spread of the pathogen. Disinfect the soil of the affected garden by drenching the roots with chemicals in early spring and late summer, using EM stock solution diluted at a ratio of 1:100-200 to drench the plant roots.

4. Apply organic fertilizer, green manure and other nutrient fertilizers. Fermentation agent EM stock solution can be used to ferment animal manure to form organic fertilizer.

5. Before sowing, seeds can be treated with 0.3% of the seed weight of Tuzet or 0.1% of the seed weight of triadimefon, or soaked for 5 hours in a 2000 times dilution of 80% 402 antibacterial emulsifiable concentrate; the base of cuttings can also be soaked for 1 hour in the same concentration of the solution before cuttings are taken.

Each crop develops root rot differently, so when carrying out prevention and control, corresponding measures should be taken according to the actual situation.
