The Correct Method and Steps for Bagging Peaches
Bagging peaches with peach bags can help the fruit resist pests and diseases, reduce pesticide residues and improve quality. What is the method for bagging with peach bags?
1. How to put on a peach bag
Open the peach bag with your hands and place the fruit in the center of the bag, without pressing it tightly against the bag wall. Clamp the U-shaped part of the bag opening onto the branch, use your index finger to separate the excess leaves, then slowly tighten the bag opening, mainly by pinching the U-shaped opening from left and right toward the middle. Finally, wrap the pinched part of the bag opening tightly with wire.
When bagging, start from the top and then work downward, and from the inside outward, to prevent missed bags.
2. Time for bagging peach trees
The bagging time is usually chosen one month after the peach tree blooms. When the peach tree enters the hard pit stage during its second physiological fruit drop is the best time for bagging.
Before bagging, the orchard should be thoroughly disinfected, and bagging should be carried out only after the liquid medicine has completely dried. For disinfection, agents such as thiophanate-methyl can be used. Note that bagging should not be done on rainy or foggy days, to prevent the liquid medicine from being washed off by rain and losing its effect.
Bagging further improves the quality of the fruit, but care should be taken to carry it out properly and not accidentally damage the fruit or branches.
