What are the control methods for pear fruit cracking?
Many varieties of pears are prone to cracking during cultivation, and such pears are affected both in appearance and taste, making them very difficult to sell. There are many causes of pear cracking, so how should it be controlled?
1. Causes of pear cracking
1. Excessive rain, the flesh tissue develops too quickly, while the epidermal cells of the peel develop slowly, the two develop unevenly, causing cracking of the epidermal cuticle;
2. The tissue at the site of black spot disease stops growing and becomes sunken, causing the pear fruit to crack;
3. Too much nitrogen fertilizer, excessive growth of branches and leaves, the fruit epidermal cells are thin and weak, while the flesh develops too quickly, causing the epidermis to rupture;
4. Insufficient potassium, boron and calcium fertilizer can also cause pear fruit cracking.
2. How to control pear cracking
1. Strengthen irrigation in the early stage and pay attention to drainage in the later stage, so that the water supply is balanced and the inner and outer growth of the flesh is coordinated; when irrigating during drought, use a small amount of water and irrigate slowly.
2. After rainfall, clear the ditches and drain water in time to improve soil permeability; carry out moderate summer pruning, thin out excessive vegetative shoots and overly dense branches, and improve the ventilation and light conditions of the pear orchard.
3. Carry out timely intertillage and weeding to keep the soil around the root zone of the tree loose, increase soil moisture content, enhance soil aeration, and create a good growing environment for the roots; cover the tree base to reduce soil moisture evaporation and ensure balanced soil moisture and nutrient supply.
4. Fertilize in a balanced way, and by no means apply too much nitrogen fertilizer; supplement potassium, boron and calcium fertilizer at the right time and in the right amount. Generally, for a 5-6 year old pear tree, apply about 100g of potassium sulfate or 2-3kg of plant ash per tree, applied 30cm away from the roots.
5. Strengthen the control of black spot disease and control its damage to pear fruit. Bagging can also reduce the damage of black spot disease to pear fruit, thereby lowering the fruit cracking rate.
Do a good job in orchard management, strengthen tree vigor, and reasonably control irrigation.
