Watermelon flesh tastes sweet and is deeply loved by people. It is cultivated throughout our country, but watermelon fields are prone to pests and diseases. Sometimes, due to non-standard pesticide application practices and unreasonable use of pesticides, pesticide damage occurs from time to time. So, what are the methods to remedy pesticide damage in watermelon seedlings?

1. Rinse with clean water

Most chemical agents are not resistant to water washing. If pesticide damage is caused by excessive spraying concentration, immediately (preferably within 6 hours after application) fill a sprayer with clean water and repeatedly spray and wash the stems and leaves to wash away the pesticide remaining on the plant surface and reduce the damage; when rinsing, the sprayer pressure should be sufficient, and the amount of water sprayed should be large.

2. Fight poison with poison

Potassium permanganate is a strong oxidant and has an oxidizing and decomposing effect on many chemical substances. According to experiments, when pesticide damage occurs in watermelon or improper pesticide use is discovered, immediately spraying a 5000-7000 times dilution of potassium permanganate can alleviate the pesticide damage.

3. Suspend pesticide use

Before the pesticide damage is completely relieved, minimize the use of chemical pesticides, especially pesticides of the same type, which should be stopped to avoid worsening the pesticide damage.

4. Strengthen management

After pesticide damage occurs in watermelon, appropriately supplement some quick-acting chemical fertilizers in combination with watering, and then carry out intertillage and soil loosening, which can promote the plants to restore normal growth and development as soon as possible.

5. Other methods

You can also combine root fertilization and watering with foliar spraying of phosphorus and potassium fertilizers to improve the nutritional status of the plants and enhance the root absorption capacity. The method is: take 1 kg of high-quality superphosphate, add 40-50 kg of water, soak for one day and one night, take the upper clear liquid and spray it on watermelon stems and leaves, or use a 1000 times dilution of Fengshou No. 1 for foliar spraying and an 800 times dilution for root drenching; plus a 0.2-0.3% potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution sprayed at 50 kg per mu; foliar spraying of a 1.8% Aiduoshou 6000 times dilution (or half a bag per sprayer) is also beneficial for the plants to restore normal growth and development.

Watermelon is very sensitive to many pesticides. If pesticide damage occurs, remedial measures should be taken in time, which can reduce the harm watermelon suffers from the agents.
