How to Break Down Herbicide Residues? A Detailed Guide to Practical Methods

Vegetables and fruits nowadays almost always retain some pesticide residue, so they must be washed thoroughly before eating; especially with fruit, the peel must be removed, but some pesticides still remain no matter how much you wash them. So what are the methods to break down herbicide residues?

Vegetables and fruits nowadays almost always retain some pesticide residue, so they must be washed thoroughly before eating; especially with fruit, the peel must be removed, but some pesticides still remain no matter how much you wash them. So what are the methods to break down herbicide residues?

Method 1: Use “Bihu” to relieve phytotoxicity

Bihu contains 8 kinds of plant endogenous hormones, 11 kinds of plant catalyst balance components, 20 kinds of amino acids, and stress-resistance inducers, among others; it is a natural functional plant nutrient and tonic.

How to use: seed dressing, seed soaking, root drenching and spraying are all acceptable; use it as early as possible. For example, to control soil-borne diseases and nematodes, root drenching works best, and repeated use has a cumulative effect.

Dosage: for root drenching, use a 20000-30000 times dilution of “Bihu” (3-5 grams of “Bihu” per mu diluted in 100 kg of water); for seed soaking and smearing, use a 5000 times dilution of “Bihu”; for seed dressing, use 5 grams of “Bihu” per 100 kg of seed, which achieves strong and vigorous seedlings; for field spraying of short-stature vegetables, use 3-5 grams of “Bihu” per mu, with obvious effects on yield increase and quality improvement; for spraying fruit trees, use 6-9 grams of “Bihu” per mu, and use for two consecutive years for an even more obvious disease-control effect.

Method 2: Use chitin (4% Heshusu) to relieve phytotoxicity

When chitin is applied to the soil it serves as a culture medium for actinomycetes; the actinomycetes obtain nutrients and multiply rapidly. Within the plant, Heshusu can induce the plant to synthesize chitinase, chitosanase, glucanase, phytoalexins, lignin, peroxidase, polyphenol oxidase, isoflavones, chitinase and others, and can promote the growth and development of crops.

How to use: seed dressing, seed soaking, root drenching and spraying are all acceptable; use it as early as possible.

Dosage: for root drenching, use a 1000-2000 times dilution of 4% Heshusu; for seed soaking and smearing, use a 500 times dilution; for seed dressing, use 50-100 ml per 100 kg of seed; for field spraying of short-stature vegetables, use 50-100 ml per mu; for spraying fruit trees, use 100-200 ml per mu.

Method 3: Use “Yihu” to relieve phytotoxicity

“Yihu” (Bacillus subtilis) is a functional plant nutrient derived from within plants, also known as a microecological preparation. Production practice has shown that after using “Yihu” for seed dressing, root dipping for 30 days, or stem-and-leaf spraying for 15 days, it can provide the plant with a dominant microbial population accounting for about 40% of the plant's total microorganisms.

How to use: “Yihu” can be used for seed dressing, seed soaking and spraying.

Dosage: for seed dressing, use 100-200 ml of “Yihu” per 100 kg of seed; for seed soaking, use a 400-500 times dilution of “Yihu”; for disease prevention, use 2-3 times, and the earlier the application period the better.
