The African black tiger shrimp is also called the diamond black tiger shrimp, black tiger king, grass shrimp king, etc. The parent stock of this shrimp comes from wild African black tiger shrimp. Compared with the black tiger shrimp currently farmed domestically, its body color is darker, its carapace is thicker and more solid, its body is long and laterally compressed, slightly spindle-shaped, and its body color is bright. So what are the farming techniques for black tiger shrimp?

1. Shrimp pond conditions

The shrimp ponds have a sandy bottom and cement slopes, with a pond depth of 2 m and a water intake depth of 1.6 m. There are 60 ponds, each with an area of 2-6 mu, totaling 280 mu; the sea area has good water quality and abundant water sources; there is a freshwater source and a secondary sand-filtered reservoir (filter pipes are buried in the reservoir and covered with more than 50 cm of sand for secondary filtration); there is a central sewage discharge system, and each pond is equipped with 4-8 paddlewheel aerators.

2. Shrimp fry

Shrimp fry are required to be uniform in size, robust and vigorous, good at swimming against the current, with a smooth body surface and no attachments, and a body length of more than 0.9 cm. After virus and Vibrio testing, they must not carry several specific pathogens such as WSSV, TSV, IHHNV and IMNV, and the Vibrio count must be within the safe range.

3. Water quality requirements when releasing fry

The water level is about 100 cm, the water color is yellow-green, the transparency is 30-40 cm, fertile but tender and refreshing, and the basic bait organisms in the pond water are relatively abundant. The optimum water temperature is 25-32°C. The optimum pH value of the shrimp pond is between 8.0 and 8.6, and it should not be lower than 7.6. The difference from the pH of the nursery pond should not exceed 0.5. The salinity of the shrimp pond is controlled between 15 and 25‰, and the difference from the salinity of the nursery pond should not exceed 5‰.
