What types of herbicides are commonly used in rice paddies
During the process of rice planting and growth, it is inevitably disturbed by various weeds, and spraying related herbicides is also very necessary. So what herbicides are there for rice paddies? How are they used?
Introduction to herbicides for rice paddies and their usage methods:
1. Pyrazosulfuron-ethyl
Pyrazosulfuron-ethyl belongs to the sulfonylurea class of herbicides and is a selective systemic conductive herbicide, with a residual effect period of 25-35 days. It is suitable for rice seedling fields, direct-seeded fields, and transplanted fields. It is generally used at the 1-3 leaf stage of rice, with 15-30 grams of 10% wettable powder per mu mixed with poisoned soil and broadcast, or it can be sprayed after dilution with water.
2. Bensulfuron-methyl
Bensulfuron-methyl is a selective systemic conductive rice paddy herbicide, controlling annual and perennial broadleaf weeds and sedges. Generally, 20-30 grams of 10% wettable powder per mu is used. To control perennial weeds and also control barnyardgrass, the dosage can be increased to 30-50 grams. Apply with a 5 cm water layer retained, either by spraying with water or by mixing with fine soil and broadcasting
3. Butachlor
Butachlor, also known as Machete and Miecaote, is a highly selective herbicide specially used for rice paddies. It is generally applied 2-3 days before sowing, or sprayed with water after emergence. If rice cannot be transplanted within 3-4 days after land preparation, it is recommended to apply the herbicide immediately after land preparation, so as to effectively control weed germination and increase rice safety.
4. Pretilachlor
Pretilachlor, also known as Sofit, is a highly selective herbicide specially used for rice paddies. It is used in water direct-seeded fields and seedling fields. First prepare the land well, then sow after pregermination. 2-4 days after sowing, irrigate a shallow water layer, use 100-115 milliliters of 30% emulsifiable concentrate per mu, dilute with 30 kg of water or mix with 20 kg of fine moist soil, and spray or broadcast evenly over the whole field, keeping it moist; there must be no standing water on the field surface. It is mainly used to control grass-family weeds.
5. Molinate
Molinate is a rice paddy herbicide with systemic action. Use 100-150 milliliters of 96% emulsifiable concentrate per mu, mix with 10 kg of fine moist soil, broadcast evenly over the soil surface, and immediately incorporate it into the soil and level it.
6. Metamifop
Metamifop is mainly used for weed control in transplanted and direct-seeded rice fields. The single agent is applied by foliar spraying.
In addition, quinclorac, thiobencarb, bispyribac-sodium, pyriftalid, penoxsulam, cyhalofop-butyl, fluroxypyr, MCPA, and many others are all herbicides that can be used in rice paddies. Of course, each herbicide targets different weeds, and the dosage used is also different, so everyone should operate according to the relevant instructions.
