What special-effect medicine works well for scab disease?
Scab disease is a common disease during crop growth. Generally, peppers, potatoes, taro, peanuts, tomatoes, citrus and others can all develop this disease, and in severe cases it affects yield. So what special-effect medicines for scab disease are there?
1. What special-effect medicines are there for scab disease?
The special-effect medicines for scab disease include Bordeaux mixture, copper oxychloride, chlorothalonil, thiram, and thiophanate. Generally, before the disease occurs, spray 30% copper oxychloride at 500-600 times dilution, or 75% chlorothalonil wettable powder at 500 times dilution, or 50% thiram wettable powder at 500 times dilution for control. After the disease occurs, systemic fungicides such as 50% thiophanate wettable powder at 600-800 times dilution can be used for control.
2. How is scab disease caused?
Scab disease spreads through wind, rain and insects. It is prone to occur at temperatures of 16-24°C, and the susceptible period is from March to May. If such lesions cluster, leaves become twisted and deformed, and fruits also become deformed fruits, with severe leaf and fruit drop. The symptoms are most obvious after stems, pods, melons, fruits, tuberous roots and tubers are damaged. In severe cases, lesions merge into patches, fruits become deformed, and fleshy roots and stems develop poorly. Leaves damaged become distorted, and young plants die, so pregnant women should not eat such foods affected by scab disease for the sake of their children.
At the beginning of scab disease, yellow or yellow-green oil-soaked spots about the size of a pillow appear on the underside of leaves, then gradually bulge on both sides of the leaf, becoming nearly round, cream-yellow lesions. Soon the epidermis of the diseased part ruptures, appearing spongy, with obvious bulging, suberization, and a rough surface, grayish-white or grayish-brown. Subsequently, the center of the diseased part on citrus becomes sunken and cracks open in a crater shape, with fine concentric rings and a yellow halo around it. The diameter of the lesions is generally 3-5mm.
